This is the piece I'll be putting into Perthshire Open Studios Showcase exhibition at The Bield...'Woman with Snowlions' (look closely, her hat is a coronet of snowlions!). My venue this year is Perth Subud Centre, follow this link for details...
I'm really enjoying working with texture and these paintings are such a revelation when they finally ring true - derived from my winter walking in the woods with my own and various other dogs!
I've just finished reviewing Europa by Sean O'Brien (Picador, 2018), for Dundee University Review of the Arts. Taking stock, here are the other reviews I've written for DURA, which you can read on that website:
...since I walk several times a day in the woods, it makes sense as my new painting theme...and I've just ordered 4 new blank canvases. I find myself relying more on paint drips and collage, and using the colours that I've absorbed on my walks. The painting shown is oil on canvas 40 x 50 cm. It took several months to complete, and has a summery feel. If you are interested in purchasing this first of the series, the price is £375 plus postage and packaging (or if you live locally, I can deliver).
After Perthshire Open Studios, thanks to local Councillor, Angus Forbes, for visiting and for taking this photo...
